National Guard soldiers prepare to launch large sheets of plastic with sandbag weights over the side of an earthen dike on the southside of Fargo Monday. Engineers hoped the plastic barrier will help prevent erosion as snow followed by high winds and blizzard conditions entered the region.

Volunteers work to fill sandbags Sunday in Fargo. The effort has been going on for more than a week in the city and other areas along the Red River.

After the Blizzard

One of the things we love about living in the Mile High City? 72 hours after a blizzard we're outside without our jackets riding bikes and throwing baseballs! The moisture was defininitely a much-needed treat, though. Greg and I went to see Bill Cosby last night with Mike and Gail - what a great time and a hilarious man! The kiddos spent the night with Grandpa Tom and Grammy Darls and Greg and I went for a long hike along Bear Creek this morning in shorts and t-shirts!!! Back to school and work tomorrow - it was a great Spring Break!

Spring Break ~ Day 5

Today was Bud Day! We picked up a few of the kids' friends and went to play a round of Glow-In-The-Dark Mini Golf, had lunch, and then came home to play for a few hours! Tonight Mom, Gail, and I are going to see Steel Magnolias at the E-Vent Center here in Lakewood. We finished up with 14" of snow on the ground - it's starting to melt and just right for molding and throwing snowballs!!!

Spring Break ~ Day 4 ~ SNOW!!!

Finally! Some real snow to talk about! The kids have been hoping for a Snow Day all year and of course, it happens while they're on Spring Break! The whole city starting shutting down at 8:00 this morning...

This was the scene at 8:00 - we thought they were kidding when the news was scrolling all of the closures!

But by 3:00 it was time to head outdoors!

We have about 8" on the ground, and it's still falling!!!

Spring Break ~ Day 3

A Fun Day at the

Denver Museum of Nature and Science!

We had a great time visiting the various exhibits - Gems and Minerals, Space Odyssey, Egyptian Mummies, Wildlife, and Nature Unleashed (Inside Natural Disasters). Afterwards we hit P.F. Chang's to eat with chopsticks and then hit the Lego store since Joshua still had a gift card to use from Christmas! Did I happen to mention that I'm off until Monday??? WOOHOO! YAHOO! YIPPEE! YEA!

Spring Break ~ Day 2

Today was Auntie and Grammy Day! The kids went to Gail's this morning and decorated cupcakes for Mean Street Ministry. Afterwards they headed to Dad and Mom's to play for the afternoon and go to the park! Tonight we all went to Joshua's baseball practice!

YEA - I'm now off until Monday! YIPPEE!!!

Happy Birthday, Gregory Paul!

Yep, that's correct! Greg is telling everyone he's 31 today (right, just add 10). We celebrated with dinner at Baker Street Pub - yum! Grandma Kathy joined us, too. Oh yeah - the kids got the funny lips at our lenten service tonight - a reminder to use our lips to share God's love with others! Happy Birthday, Lovey! Here's to another 41 years!!!

Flat Stanley!

Flat Stanley came to visit us from cousin Michael in Chisholm, Minnesota. We've had so much showing him "our life" this weekend! He got to visit the school and participate in the Scouts' Pinewood Derby (see him on the Bobcats sign and at the top of the track?), we took him to lunch at Front Room Pizza, he cheered on cousin Lane's baseball team and celebrated cousin Kate's 9th birthday, and got all decked out in COLORADO ROCKIES gear. I think he's now ready to go back to Minnesota Twins territory! He sure has enjoyed our warm weather!!! What is Flat Stanley?

What Was Life Like Back Then?

Joshua's class spent the day at the Plains Conservation Center - what a great time! They learned all about life on the prairie for the pioneers and Indians. They spent the morning learning in a one room schoolhouse, and spent the afternoon doing various chores (drawing water, feeding animals, pulling the plow) and visiting a pioneer sod house. This kicks off their unit on Colorado history.
