Happy 80th Birthday today, Dad! Thanks for being a REAL example of love, hard work, determination, faith, support, and so much more! As Hannah said in her dinner prayer, you are the best Grandpa! We are so blessed!!!
We hiked to the top of Green Mountain here in Lakewood on Saturday morning. Dad, my three sibs, my hubby, our kiddos, and our pet ~ what a great time! Five plus miles of beautiful sunshine, fresh air, great conversation, and lots of laughter and smiles!!!
That night we gathered for dinner at Mike and Gail's house. Dad's 80th birthday and Dad and Mom's 55th anniversary are both this week ~ huge reasons to celebrate! We had all sorts of family comfort foods including Dad's bourbon balls, Hannah's queso, Mom's wild rice casserole, Aunt Irene's tator tot casserole, and of course the Lutheran staple, Jello!!! No shortage of desserts either ~ chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie, and a plate of yummy mini-desserts!!!
Why the trees? But of course ~ Dad is thrilled to be heading to the hills again on Tuesday to cut trees for a man in Evergreen!!! Notice that one is cut in half :-)
Oh yes, we clinked glasses so they had to kiss - visited about their wedding, shower, and honeymoon - and just enjoyed being together!

Sunday morning we joined them for church at Concordia where all 4 of us were confirmed. Fun to have the congregation sing Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary out in the narthex!

You'd think after all of this food and activity we'd be down for naps! But no, we headed over to the Festival Italiano in Belmar for pizza, sausage and meatball sandwiches, and strawberry and vanilla gelatos - yum!!!
