Little House in the Big Woods

The 4th graders read Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House in the Big Woods while learning about the early pioneers - Hannah chose to build a popsicle stick house for her final project!  

We loved all of the purple flowers that she picked out, and the planters were made from broken thick toothpicks painted green for the stem, with a flower hot glued on the top :-)

She's now starting to read On the Banks of Plum Creek :-)

Spirit Week!

Woohoo! Last week was Spirit Week and what fun it was ~ Crazy Hair and Clashing Clothes, Look-A-Like, Bowties and Neon, Pajamas, and Bobcat Colors! Unfortunately I have been a bit lackadaisical in the photography department! Hannah and Tilly looked especially adorable on Look-A-Like day which also happened to be Valentine's Day - Jessica found them awesome matching heart t-shirts and we picked up cute earrings and necklaces! It was so cool to see all of the kids in bow ties and/or neon at Wednesday's chapel service!

Flocked!

As a fundraiser for their youth group, Concordia delivers this flock of flamingos with a note. We paid to have them "land" at Dad and Mom's house; they in turn pay to have them removed and/or delivered to another yard! You can also pay a larger fee as 'insurance' to keep them off of your lawn - hehe! The money goes toward funding their summer mission trip :-) Money well-spent!!!

 We just HAD to stop by to see them after school (on pajama day, no less!)! 

Happy 10th Birthday, Fernanda!

Fernanda is the girl that we sponsor through Compassion International - she lives in Brazil with her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. She hopes to be a teacher when she grows up. She is 10 years old today! Happy Birthday, Fernanda!!!

Project Valentine

"...making life a little sweeter..."

I was blessed today to be Dad's driver for his chemo treatment! Upon our arrival they gave him a goodie bag from Project Valentine ~ what a great concept! The bag was filled with homemade valentines, a notepad, a deck of playing cards, a water bottle, hand sanitizer, a 2012 almanac, lip balm, a chocolate bar, a single Enstrom's toffee bar, green tea, Fun Dip, a dry erase notepad, and much more! They accept donations of cash and goodies ~ check out their website!!!

The Seamstress & Under The Tuscan Sun

Being snowed in gave us all time to do some reading! I finished Sara Tuvel Bernstein's "The Seamstress" - another impossible-to-put-down memoir!!! Needless to say though, I'm settling back into Frances Mayes' "Under The Tuscan Sun" for a much more light-hearted read! 

Snow Day!!!

Awesome! They canceled school last night, and by this morning pretty much everyone except essential personnel was home for the day!!! We have 15" here and it's still snowing lightly... love it!!!
