St. John's Invitational Track Meet

Joshua is participating in track this year.  Yesterday was the first meet in Parker and he competed in shotput, discus, the 800M run, and the 4x100M relay.  We aren't sure about placement with shotput and discus, but he placed 2nd in the 800M run and his relay team took first place - they ran like the wind! No other team was even close :-) It was a great day! Hannah has already decided she wants to participate next year!

Opening Weekend 2013

We scored some great tickets online - 15 rows up from the field just past 3rd base :-)  The weather was perfect and, even better, we beat the San Diego Padres 9-1 to sweep the series!!!

Back to Reading!

I'm finding some time to get back to reading and just finished two great books (no, not simultaneously).  In the Garden of Beasts (thanks to Dad's friend, Burt) follows the story of the US Ambassador in Berlin during  the rise of Hitler, and The Kitchen House (thank you, Natalie) is about a young girl growing up on a slave plantation in the south in the late 1700's.  They were both fantastic reads!

A Life of Love and Service

Well done, good and faithful servant!

My dad went peacefully into Jesus' arms early Sunday morning - so thankful for the strong faith and rich life that he shared with all of us. While I'm thankful that he's no longer battling cancer and now celebrating upstairs, I can't imagine the hole in my heart ever being filled!

Thanksgiving Week!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week!  Our friends were in town part of the time and we were able to squeeze in an afternoon of lunch, shopping, and fun at Jump Street!

Good Morning, Colonial America!

Hannah's 5th grade classes presented Good Morning, Colonial America just before Thanksgiving.  Each of the groups put together a newscast interviewing important people from that time period as well as doing commercials - the kids do a ton of research to "get it right" and then dress the part - what fun!  Hannah's group did Pennsylvania. She was interviewed as William Penn (no picture dressed as a dude, sorry!) and also showed a mother making bread with her daughter.  It was a great, information-packed day morning!
