Joshua's 4th grade classes spent the afternoon at Jungle Quest - an indoor center with a climbing wall, ziplines, and ropes! Way cool!!! Where has the school year gone?!?!

1st Grade Fun Day!
Friday was Hannah's 1st Grade Fun Day! Two games of bowling, pizza and homemade cookies at the park, and lots of playtime!!!

The Governor's Mansion!
The 4th grade classes had the opportunity to visit the Governor's Mansion today - home of Governor Bill Ritter, First Lady Jeannie Ritter, and their children. Joshua was impressed that there are 3 1/2 stories above ground, and he loved that the First Kids also leave their backpacks on the steps when they get home from school!!!

Arts in the Afternoon
The kids had their Spring Concert today. Afterwards they went for DQ treats with Aunt Gailie and then we all went for a bike ride! It's 85-degrees outside and gorgeous! Fun times!!!

Field Day Fun!
Today was the kids' Field Day - it was awesome! Lutheran High School hosts all of the metro area K-8 Lutheran schools at their campus. It's great having so many kids come from all over to compete and interact with each other. Families take their blankets and coolers and spend the day camped out on the baseball and football fields. Joshua and Hannah ran, jumped and threw balls and did really well! Boppa Tom and Grammy Darls came down and enjoyed some of the festivities (and a little ice cream) too :-)

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies
OK - so it's NO SECRET that I love my mom's chocolate chip cookies. They are the closest thing to heaven on earth that I'm aware of. My family has known me to bring home a tin of warm fresh-baked cookies ~ with the intention of sharing them, of course ~ only to discover that they never quite get all the way home. At the very least, I will share the recipe with all of you!!! Oh yeah ~ Greg and Joshua would say that they are especially yummy dunked in milk!
Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies (straight from her note to me!)1 cup Crisco¾ cup brown sugar
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2¼ cups flour
¾ bag chocolate chips
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
You can always vary this recipe with raisins, dates, pecans, whatever your little heart desires. Bake @ 350° for 10 minutes. Enjoy!
