5A State Championship

My alma mater - Lakewood High School - made it to the State Championship! Lakewood hasn't gone since we won against Cherry Creek my sophomore year! There was no question - we were all going! They played undefeated Columbine at Sports Authority Field - the Broncos' stadium :-) It was so much fun!!!  We lost - final score - 41-31 - Lakewood ended the season with a 12-2 record but it was awesome to get everyone together and cheer on the home team :-)

Thanksgiving Round One

The Sunday before Thanksiving ~ dinner with Kathy, Jim, Gary, Kim, Lane, Kate, Papa Jim, Andrea, Becky, and Marisa!



Grandparents Day / Thanksgiving Lunch!

Bethlehem hosts Grandparents Day every November. They begin with coffee and pastries and then enjoy a program in the gym ~ 2nd graders played the bells, 4th graders (since it was their gym time) did some fun gymnastics and tumbling, and 8th graders presented their speeches. Afterwards all of the grandparents visit their students' classrooms for more activities. This is also the day that Bethlehem serves their Thanksgiving Lunch ~ us parents get to join them for lunch, too :-) YUM!!!!!  It was a great day!

Turkey Marathon!

What a fun few days of fabulous flurry!!!

The Denver Rescue Mission is in dire need of turkeys for Thanksgiving. With a few e-mails to friends and family and a Facebook post, birds are coming in!  Our turkey tally continues to grow...

Wednesday - 5 delivered

Thursday - 14 delivered

Friday - 29 delivered
and Saturday - 6 delivered
GRAND TOTAL  = 54

This from our friend who works at the Denver Rescue Mission (written this past Wednesday)...
"Each year we hold a turkey drive to feed the poor and needy in the Denver Metro area. This year our goal was 10,000 turkeys. We use a small portion of those turkeys at the Mission for holiday meals and to meet our need for varied protein as we serve the homeless throughout the year. But, the majority of the turkeys we receive are given out to smaller agencies and churches in the area on Friday and Saturday of this week as they prepare to serve their communities of need. With only a few short days remaining, we have received less than 1,000 of the needed 10,000 turkeys. We know that through the grace of God and through the donations of countless individuals such as yourself, we will be able to meet the needs of the Denver Rescue Mission, as well as the needs of those other agencies."
